What are Yahoo! Widgets?

Yahoo! Widgets are handy mini-applications that you can run on your desktop via an easy-to-use program called the Yahoo! Widget Engine, which is available for both Windows and Mac OS X. You can download the Engine and a starter set of Widgets from http://widgets.yahoo.com.

What do they do?

Widgets are available to perform any number of tasks such as checking your email, showing you the weather forecast, or perhaps unleashing a crazed monster that roams your desktop, chewing on application windows, and attacking the mouse cursor if it gets too close. Yes, really.

How do I install my Widgets?

1. Sign up and log into Yahoo!
2. Download and install the Yahoo! Widget Engine from http://widgets.yahoo.com.
3. Download your Widget from the links to the right.
4. Double click the Widget file to install it, you will be asked if you wish to run the Widget or not, click ‘Use Widget’.
5. Once installed you may choose which language news you wish to read by clicking on the flags along the bottom of the Widget. You can also set ‘Widget Preferences’ by right clicking on the Widget.
