NCsoft - E3 roundup

Read up on the latest news coverage from this year’s E3, one of the biggest events on the gaming calendar.

E3Soccer Fury, Exteel, Dungeon Runners and Smash Star
The announcement of free-to-play games on PlayNC soon created a buzz amongst gaming sites - Steve Butts from IGN gives his verdict on the first four games to be released.

“One of the more pleasant surprises of this morning was NCSoft’s introduction of four brand new titles that are going to be part of their free PlayNC service… the games NCSoft has lined up not only seem really fun but also offer some first-rate visuals.”

GameZone also got the chance to go hands-on with the four games on display, as did GotFrag and Joystiq.

For a more up-close and personal account of Soccer Fury, tackle Brian Ekberg’s preview over at GameSpot. Also, be sure to catch the cinematic trailer and the deluge of screenshots and concept art to be had over at IGN.

Head over to GameSpot for some heavy-duty dealings in Exteel, and don’t forget to check out the brand new, super-stylish cinematic trailer. Rumour also has it that a Dungeon Runners preview is lurking somewhere over at GameSpot… you have been warned.

Aion
Following the official release of the Aion trailer, the games press were eager to see if the gameplay matched the cinematic quality seen in the movie. Bob Colayco, reporting for GameSpot, wasn’t disappointed.

“One of the more interesting MMO games shown off at E3 2006 was NCsoft’s Aion: The Tower of Eternity… from what we’ve seen of Aion so far, the game looks promising.”

Stratics also got in on the action, catching up with one of the Lead Game Designers - following their hands-on play session, Aion was given Best Graphics in the Golden Clogs, Stratics’ annual E3 awards.

“While I was pretty disappointed with the showing of MMORPGs in general at E3, NCsoft certainly looks like they have an amazing game in development with Aion and it will be one of the games to watch over the next year.”

In addition to the gameplay trailer, a series of new screenshots were also released for the first time.

E3Tabula Rasa
In E3 2005, the Tabula Rasa development team, headed by Richard Garriott, presented a new vision and direction for their game - head over to Eurogamer to find out what’s been happening for the past year and how Tabula Rasa is shaping up.

IGN’s Matt Mefford also had a closer look, describing Tabula Rasa as “an intriguing MMO which looks to bring a lot of innovation to the sci-fi MMO market”. More coverage in-depth came from GameSpot, who explore character creation and the arsenal of weapons available.

Following the release of a new gameplay trailer, Starr Long, Tabula Rasa Producer, gave a video preview to OGaming, and GameZone give their initial impressions of the game.

“The game was on display at E3… featuring fully integrated voice chat, a mixture of shared spaces and instanced spaces...”
