Java Programmer
NCsoft is setting up a new Development Studio in Europe. Whilst this is a big challenge, it presents us with a lot of unique opportunities. One of the most exciting for us is the freedom to explore new and different approaches to creating games. So, we are looking for people with passion and vision to help us shape the future of the NCE Studio. The people we recruit will have the opportunity to be in at the beginning of this exciting new venture and will make a key contribution in determining what we do and how we do it. Our plans are ambitious. We don’t just want NCE Studio to be the studio we have always dreamed of working for; we want it to be the studio that creates the online games we and our customers have always dreamed of playing.
You will be working in a fast-paced development environment, so the ability to be flexible, adaptable and to take constructive criticism positively will be paramount.
Responsibilities
- Efficient and reliable coding of game engines in Java within given time frames
- Effective game playability design, with the aim of producing a high quality product
- Creation and maintenance of internal documentation for the product
- Liaison with several departments
Requirements
- Degree within a Computer Science discipline
- Understanding of all aspects of game product creation
- Excels in programming Java applications, with special attention to reliability and efficiency of code
- High degree of personal initiative and creativity
- Strong familiarity of software development methodologies
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to do so enthusiastically, clearly and concisely
- Good time management skills while working well under deadline pressures
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- High level of attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- A strong interest in computer games
Preferred
- Prior experience with Networking is desirable
- Java Programmer with one or more shipped titles
