Answer
You can do the following with your City of Heroes Good Versus Evil Edition Serial Code:
- Start a brand new account
- Upgrade your current City of Heroes-only or City of Villains-only game account in order to gain access to the version you do not already have access to, and the bonus content
- Upgrade your combined City of Heroes/City of Villains game account in order to receive the bonus content
Registration
To CREATE a new game account
- Log into PlayNC Account Management. ( How do I create my PlayNC master account?).
- Click the Use a Serial Code link.
- If you purchased your City of Heroes Good Versus Evil Edition Serial Code online through your PlayNC master account, choose the option to use that serial code in the Purchased Serial Codes section and skip to Step 6.
- If you have a serial code you received in a retail game box, select the A Standard PlayNC Code (20 digits) option.
- Enter your serial code in the fields provided. You do not need to enter any spaces or dashes.
- Click the CONTINUE button.
- Next, choose your game account name.

- If you want the game account name to be different from your PlayNC master account name, complete the information under option 1 and click the CREATE GAME ACCOUNT button.
- If you want the game account name to match your PlayNC master account name, click the CREATE GAME ACCOUNT button under option 2.
- Next, choose your activation method. You will need a valid credit or debit card, or prepaid game time card to activate your account.

- If you use a credit or debit card, you will not be charged until your included month of game time expires.
- If you use a game time card, you will receive the included month of game time plus the number of days included with your specific game time card.
You will be contacted via e-mail when the account has been fully activated and is ready to be logged into.
PLEASE NOTE: We strongly recommend you save the "Game Account Activated!" e-mail sent to you after the initial activation of your game account. That e-mail contains a very important piece of information that we use to verify account ownership. You may need it if you need help with your account later. That specific piece of information is only provided in the e-mail sent after the original activation of your game account. It cannot be resent.
To UPGRADE an EXISTING City of Heroes, City of Villains or combined game account. This applied to beta, pre-order, trial or retail account types.
- Log into PlayNC Account Management.
- Click the Use a Serial Code link.
- If you purchased your City of Heroes Good Versus Evil Edition Serial Code online through your PlayNC master account, choose the option to use that serial code in the Purchased Serial Codes section and skip to Step 6.
- If you have a serial code you received in a retail game box, select the A Standard PlayNC Code (20 digits) option.
- Enter your serial code in the fields provided. You do not need to enter any spaces or dashes.
- Click the CONTINUE button.
- Select the account you wish to upgrade from the list provided.

- If you are unsure which account you would like to upgrade.

- Return to your PlayNC Account Management page.
- Click the Game Accounts link for each available game account.
- Review the Account Information page for each game account to determine the one you wish to upgrade.
- Note the game account name and return to step 2.
- Click the UPGRADE ACCOUNT button for the game account you wish to upgrade.
You will be contacted via e-mail when the account has been fully upgraded and is ready to be logged into.
PLEASE NOTE: If this is the initial retail activation of your account, we strongly recommend you save the "Game Account Activated!" e-mail sent to you. That e-mail contains a very important piece of information that we use to verify account ownership. You may need it if you need help with your account later. That specific piece of information is only provided in the e-mail sent after the original activation of your game account. It cannot be resent.
Re-issues
If you've read the above instructions and feel that you might have mistakenly applied your City of Heroes Good Versus Evil Edition Serial Code as a new game account instead of upgrading your existing account*, we will be happy to assist you with a code re-issue! Please be aware that you should expect your code re-issue to take as long as three business days to be processed from the time it is received with all the requested necessary information. Again, once you have submitted this information it may take as long as three business days to be processed. If you have already submitted a request for this issue, please do not submit another one if you haven't yet received a response. This will cause further delays and repetition of efforts. The Account Support Team will process your request as soon as they reach your place in the queue.
* Because the reissue process involves the permanent closure of the game account where your original code was registered, we are unable to provide a re-issue if you mistakenly registered the code as an upgrade to an existing game account instead of creating a new game account.
