Use Card on File Option

Question

What is the Use Card on File option for?

Answer

The Use Card on File option is intended to be used to limit or restrict use of the credit card you have on file for recurring subscription purchases as payment for in-game purchases. This option can be found at the bottom of the Enter Credit Card Information page when changing the current credit card on file for an account.

If you have a credit card currently on file, you may access this option by following the instructions below:

  1. From your PlayNC Account Management page, click the Billing Summary link.
  2. In the Actions box in the Credit Card on File section, click the CHANGE CARD option.
  3. Select your credit/debit card type from the drop-down menu, followed by the SUBMIT button.
  4. Re-enter your credit card details in the Card Info section.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page to view the Use Card on File section.

If you do not currently have a credit card on file, you will need to place one on file by activating or reactivating an existing subscription-based game account.

Allowing and Disallowing In-Game Purchases
The default setting for the Use Card on File option is "pending" for all existing accounts on recurring billing and all new accounts as they are first put on recurring billing. Any account in the "pending" status can be first toggled on by an attempted in-game purchase by verifying the PlayNC master account login username and password. Additionally, to expressly toggle this option off or on, you simply need to uncheck or re-check the checkbox to the right. Checked is on, unchecked is off.

Setting a Purchase Limit
There is a default purchase limit of €250, £160 per 30-day period. You may adjust this limit by entering a new amount in the section below the checkbox.

NOTE:

  • The adjusted purchase limit is only applicable if the checkbox is checked, allowing in-game purchases.
  • You may adjust the purchase limit downward from the default, however there is a system-wide limit of €250, £160 which you may not go above.
Be sure to click the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page to complete the change.
